ABOUT

LOS SANTOS PATRONES DE PATEROS(The Patron Saints of Pateros)
Pateros has continuously evolved through time and many devotions sprung as Barrios or Barangays and Parish Pastoral Units (PPUs) came to a rise. In the olden times though, there were only FIVE principal patron saints in which each Barrio or Barangay is devoted to. Each would have its own feast day and their own respective celebrations but during the feast of San Roque, which is also considered as the "Pistang-Bayan," all five patrons and their devotees from their respective Barrios gather together for the festivities at the parish church. A grand procession in honor of San Roque is held and the entourage will be accompanied by the four other patron saints.
Here are the FIVE PRINCIPAL PATRONS OF PATEROS:
1. NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL SANTO ROSARIO - Brgy. Sto. Rosario Silangan and Kanluran
2. LA BUENA FAMILIA or STA. ANA BANAK - Brgy. Sta. Ana
3. SAN ISIDRO LABRADOR - Barrio Castule - Brgy. Poblacion
4. SANTA MARTA - Brgy. Aguho and titular of the Diocesan Shrine, 2009
5. SAN ROQUE - Brgy. San Roque and titular of the Parish, 1815

HISTORY
In August 10, 1885, the town leaders of Pateros asked permission from the authorities to celebrate the town fiesta for all the five patron saints of Pateros (Los Santos Patrones de Pateros), for three days of August 14-16. They would like to celebrate it with music and fireworks in honor of all their patron saints. It was a very festive occasion. They would have fireworks during the entire feast days and they promised to hold the activities in unpopulated districts (sitio despoblado) and far from nipa houses (lejos de los cacerios de nipa) due to the possible conflagration that it might have caused.
